 The Center

Day-Care Program
A specialized day-care center in al-Athaibah where trained teachers and assistants work with children with special needs, with the exception of the severely mentally disabled and the blind. This programme caters for children from 3 to 6 years of age.

The Program offers:

  • Montessori's practical life activities to help gain confidence and independence.

  • Arts and crafts to enhance creativity and aesthetic fulfilment.

  • Simple exposure to letters and numbers according to each child's ability.

The Portage Program
It is a home-visiting educational service for children with special needs that is based on the common sense principal
that mothers are the key figures in the care and development of their children. Instead of taking children to the service,
the service is brought to the children and their families at home
.

  • A portage team provides a carefully structured, but flexible, system to help train mothers to become effective
     teachers of their children
  • The programme addresses our key aims:
    - To cover the whole age spectrum from birth to 9 years.
    -
To expand the services to many more children.
    -
To cover a larger geographic area.
    -
To spread awareness in the community.
